How did it go down?

I did this a few years ago. I send it out to several publishers and one took the bait.

Did you get help or have company along the way?

Yes. But later on I did it all by myself, just because I wasn't happy with the POD publisher. I just looked for the name of their printer and mailed them myself.

What made it possible? Any advice?

Learn from others. Find a printing press, learn Indesign (or find others) and make yourself familiair with the whole publishing process as it differs from countries. In the Netherlands I learned how to get my book(s) in the library, while in The States it's a different ball game.
