Visit The Great Wall Of China - Done!

How did it go down?

I went with a travel agency. We were part of a small group of a 15 people or so and we traveled locally by train, bus and car.

Did you get help or have company along the way?

I went with a travel agency and they hired a local guide.

What made it possible? Any advice?

I saved money and booked a trip, together with a friend. It was the best vacation I had in my life. We traveled by train from north to south. It was long, but worth it as we were among the locals. The whole trip was like that, so we didn't see a lot of tourists. That way you get to see the real China. I even got to teach Dutch to a schoolgirl as all people are interested in learning about foreign cultures. Do ask your local guide for good food as they know what western people like. Avoid the tourist traps. Xi'an was for instance too crowded. The Chinese wall has five entries. Ask for the quiet one. And do travel by train. You'll meet the locals. Be like the locals and follow their rules. Everything is possible in China (don't believe the news), but with politeness you'll gain more.
