When my sons were babies one of them was very ill. Their first year was tough. We were sleep deprived, anxious and not sure he'd make it. One day his brother crawled over to the TV, cruised up to standing and started bouncing up and down joyfully, kissing he screen. The Flaming Lips were playing. He was chuckling with delight. He loved them so much we bought the album, Yoshimi. It was all about being strong, living for now, love. That summer they turned one, and we risked a holiday by the sea, playing Yoshimi in the car all the way. On that holiday my ill son turned a corner. He began to eat and sleep, he stopped howling with pain all the time and for the first time in a year I felt happy. Ever since the soundtrack to family happiness in my mind has been Yoshimi. My boys are now 12, and the one who loved the music wants to be a musician. He still loves Flaming Lips and asked me to see if they were playing in UK. They have two dates, one at a festival near us, one of the few that allows under 14s. So we have tickets. Ever since associating my son's health with their music I've wanted to see them live, and now we are all going, as a family. I can't wait! @CherysR
