The reason it's phrased have a kid of my own is because for the longest time I only wanted to adopt. I told my mom over and over that I wasn't going to have my own kids and that adoption was the direction I wanted to go. As I've gotten older I'm starting to sway the other direction and considering having one of my own. I want a girl. @Sanne1
