When I saw this movie in the 90s, I was young. I knew that I wanted to go there. It is sad though, because the popularity of this movie that Leo and Tilda brought attention to ended up making it so that they had to shut the whole thing down for years. In 2007, I think is when they opened it back up to the public, but with mass restrictions. You can't swim. They have whistleblowers that don't even like it if you bend down to touch the water with your hands. There are so many boats of people coming in and this long boardwalk. They say there are so many sharks there and I believe it, but I really think they say that to keep people from going out in the water rogue where they can have more control. I appreciate that because the sand is like powder and the water is what seems to be a million shades of turquoise, green and blues. It is gorgeous with the green mountains and mangroves....oh. It was worth all the travel time and hype jsut to be there for less than an hour. I played in a cave area and I got to kick the water and bend down to splash it for a quick video and some photos. It was nice just sitting in the cave area and hae the sand between my toes. I only wish for longer time and less people, but that's not possible here.
