Living, working, helping out in a foreign country less fortunate than my own is something that I really want to do. Truly understanding another community is such a valuable opportunity, one that I definitely couldn't ever turn down. I believe it could potentially be a life changing experience.
When I was eleven, my teacher had asked everyone in the class what they wanted to be when they grew up. I didn't know the answer, but I did say that I wanted to save the rain-forest. I'm now a 23-year-old college grad, and I feel like I have let my eleven-year-old self down by not being more altruistic.
COMPLETED! I worked in Lira, Uganda for two months summer 2011 and have plans to do the same in Buenos Aires, Argentina summer 2012.
